The streams that flow off the mountains were often milky blue in color. Spectacular!
After 2 weeks of being on the road, we finally arrived at Mike & Monika's home about 12N - 8/12/14. The dogs went nuts playing with one another and were fascinated by the log cabin in the backyard. Lot's of good smells.
Later that day, we took the camper to the campground about 10 miles away and checked out the water leak we noticed in the camper the night before. It has been determined the "leak" was actually captured road spray that accumulated in the floor of the plumbing compartment under the toilet. We found a lot of glacier powder dust along with some accumulated water.
One thing we discovered after driving the Alaska-Canadian Highway, is that although it was a beautiful drive, the roads are something we never want to experience again. Am I glad we did it? Yes. Was it worth doing? Yes. Are we going back that way? NO. Since this is a once in a lifetime trip, we decided to take the Alaska Marine Highway home. We will be taking the ferry from Whittier, AK to Bellingham, WA on 8/25/14. Until then, we will visit with our children, rest, and explore the beauty of the Anchorage and Kenai Penninsula areas.
